The rack system measurements are all based on the cage box you choose.  These instructions help you calculate all the necessary measurements before you begin to build, allowing you to figure the exact amount of materials to buy.  Use the measurement worksheet to make all of your measurements, then fill in the blanks by adding, subtracting, & multiplying as instructed.  For help with the linear math, use the calculator link below.

Once you've opened and printed a blank worksheet, follow the instructions and video demonstration below to make your measurements.

Measure the length, width, and height of the cage box.  Measure from the center of each side particularly if the ends taper at all toward the edges.  Include the lip height and width in all measurements.  If your cage box has feet make sure to include these in your measurement as well.  Take care to be very accurate about your cage box measurements, as everything else depends upon them.  Enter the length in line 1 of your worksheet.  Enter the width in line 2 of your worksheet.  Enter the height in line 3 of your worksheet.

Measure the box lip height & width and enter these values in lines 4 & 5 of your worksheet respectively.  Also enter the number of boxes you want in a single level of your rack system and enter that number in line 6 of your worksheet.

With the first 6 lines of the measurement worksheet completed you're ready to complete the next 17 worksheet lines (through line 23).  Work your way down the worksheet, making the calculations as directed to get your own rack system measurements.  The lines marked 'Constant Value' are measurements that will be the same regardless of the box size you choose, so there is no need for you to enter anything in these fields.  Make sure to complete every line through line 23.  You'll complete lines 24 & 25 later in the process.
